ABOUT · 02 / THE STORY

Why
this exists.

Drift Gokart started because the karts on the market were either cheap plastic toys or full-size adult machines with nothing in between for kids who actually love cars.

I'm Andrey — engineer, garage tinkerer, and parent. Drift Gokart started because I went looking for a kart my own kid could actually drive — one that felt real, that taught throttle and steering and respect for a machine — and couldn't find anything between cheap plastic ride-ons and full-size adult equipment. So I built it.

Six models, each a 1/2-scale tribute to a car I grew up loving. Real hydraulic brakes. Full suspension. A 2500W brushless drivetrain. A hand-painted hard body — twenty-two hours per unit. Stitched interiors. Livery cut and applied by hand, never printed on a wrap. Nothing about it is mass-produced, because mass-production is what I was trying to escape.

I'm making these in small batches out of a workshop in Vancouver. Production is capped — not as marketing, but because I want each kart to be right. When you order, you talk to me directly. When something needs to be tuned, replaced, or shipped, you talk to me. That's the deal.

01Who's it for? What's the age range?
Drift Gokart is built for supervised use by children roughly age 6 to 13, with a configurable seat and adjustable speed limiter. Driver weight limit is approximately 70 kg. Adults can ride for tuning or short demos, but it's not designed as an adult vehicle.
02Is it safe?
Yes — within its intended use. Every kart ships with real hydraulic brakes, full suspension, LED headlights and signals, and an adjustable governor that caps top speed for younger drivers. We strongly recommend a properly-fitted helmet and closed surfaces (driveways, private tracks, controlled paved areas). It is not street-legal in any Canadian province.
03How long does it take to build mine?
Typical build time is 6 to 12 weeks from deposit, plus shipping. Each unit is fabricated, painted, wired, and trimmed by hand — there is no production line. The configurator on /build estimates current queue position when you request a quote.
04Do you ship across Canada?
Yes — coast to coast and to all territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). Shipping is crated freight and is quoted at order time based on your postal code. Crating and handling are included; provincial taxes and any remote-area surcharges are itemized separately.
05How is it priced? Why $8k–$12k?
Each kart is one of a kind. The base price reflects ~40 hours of hand fabrication, hand-painted body (multiple coats, cured between each), real suspension and brakes, a 2500W brushless drivetrain, and hand-applied livery. Configurator add-ons (premium paint, widebody kit, custom interior, special livery) move the total within that band. Final Canadian pricing is confirmed in your written quote.
06What about warranty and parts?
Warranty terms are confirmed in writing with each quote and ride along with the unit. Email hello@driftgokart.ca before ordering and I'll send you the current policy and parts-support details in full.
